In order to be considered for the Service Scholars Program and $2,000 annual Service Scholarship, students must do the following:
- Demonstrate an exceptional commitment to service as an incoming freshman.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or an 83 on a 100-point scale.
- ¶ºÄÌÊÓÆµ to Stevenson by the January 15 Specialty Scholarship deadline and be admitted to the University. Stevenson’s application for admission will be available on August 1.
- Complete the Application for Service and Leadership Scholars Programs by the deadline of January 15.
- Complete a campus tour by February 4.
- Complete a Specialty Scholarship Interview by the priority deadline of February 1. ¶ºÄÌÊÓÆµ Service Scholars applications will also be considered for the Foundersâ€™ Scholarship when interviewing. There is no separate application for the Foundersâ€™ Scholarship. Students selected for the ¶ºÄÌÊÓÆµ Service Scholars will also receive the $2,000 Foundersâ€™ Scholarship in addition to the $2,000 Service Scholarship for a total of $4,000 in scholarship funding on top of any previously awarded SU Merit-Based Scholarship. Students not selected for the ¶ºÄÌÊÓÆµ Service Scholars may be awarded a Foundersâ€™ Scholarship of $2,000 on its own.
Students who meet all of the above application requirements will be notified whether or not they have been selected for ¶ºÄÌÊÓÆµ Service Scholars on a rolling basis once the application is submitted and interview is completed.

Benefits of the program include:
- $2,000 annual Service Scholarship for four consecutive years of full-time study at the University. Recipients also receive the $2,000 annual Founders’ Scholarship, which is also renewable for four years, for a total additional annual award of $4,000 on top of any SU Merit-Based Scholarship.
- A supportive community of peers and mentors, as well as personal consultations with the Faculty Director.

In order to remain a Service Scholar once accepted to the program, students must:
- Enroll as a full-time student
- Maintain the minimum required GPA (2.5 at the end of year one, 2.6 at the end of year two, 2.7 at the end of year three, and 2.8 at the end of year four)
- Complete a minimum of 100 hours of service per academic year (50 hours per semester), documented online and submitted each semester by the required deadline
- Enroll in a total of 3 service-learning courses, including the introductory course â€“ Service-Learning 101: Foundations of Service-Learning
Service Scholars typically receive a merit-based scholarship. In addition, Service Scholars are awarded a Service Scholarship and the Foundersâ€™ Scholarship, which recognizes a studentâ€™s potential to be an active, engaged member of the Stevenson Community. Holly Lentz-Schiller received her Ph.D. in Consumer, Apparel and Retail Studies from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro in 2008 and joined the faculty at ¶ºÄÌÊÓÆµ in 2014. As Director of the Service Scholars Program, Associate Professor of Marketing, and Lead Faculty in Fashion Merchandising, she teaches courses in consumer behavior, social entrepreneurship, service learning, retailing, and sourcing and logistics. Her research focuses on the social psychology of dress and consumer behavior, as well as sustainability and teaching in higher education.
Dr. Schiller is the advisor to Enactus where the on-campus Success Studio provides free professional clothing to all students and is launching the Stevenson Entrepreneurship Table (S.E.T.), an initiative to feature SU student entrepreneurs through on-campus locations and social media outlets. In 2020, a sustainable business plan student project from Dr. Schillerâ€™s Sourcing and Logistics course won first place in the Educatorâ€™s for Socially Responsible Apparel Practices poster competition at the International Textile and Apparel Association Annual Meeting. She also mentored senior students in her capstone class to present projects at the Popular Culture Association Annual Meeting and prepare two manuscripts for publication in academic journals.
She is also the advisor to Kappa Omicron Nu and Sigma Beta Delta honor societies. Dr. Schiller integrates mindfulness and meditation as well as her commitment to sustainability and service with students and colleagues in her work with service projects and on-campus workshops.
