A New Home for SU Clubs and Orgs: The Center for Student Life and Leadership
The ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ Office of Student Affairs is excited to announce the creation of the new Center for Student Life and Leadership. The new Center will be located on the second floor of Garrison Hall South, adjacent to the Reading Room, and will offer 8,000-square-feet of dedicated space for SU student clubs and organizations. Featuring new furnishings, multifunctional spaces, and offices for Student Activities staff and student organizations, the Center will create a comfortable atmosphere where student groups and leaders can host small- and large-group meetings, brainstorm, plan initiatives and events, or reflect and learn together.
Renovations to create the new Center will start in late December and will occur in two phases. Phase one—scheduled to happen over the holiday break period—will include:
- Installing new carpet and wall coverings
- Installing flexible and comfortable seating for individuals and small groups
- Creating three areas in the Center for student meetings or group activities
- Installing enhanced Wi-Fi, mobile whiteboards, and a smart white board
Phase two—planned for Summer 2023—will focus on renovating the Center’s offices for Student Activities staff and for several Stevenson clubs and organizations including the Student Government Association (SGA), Mustang Activities and Programming (MAP), and the Commuter Student Association, among others. Faculty offices currently in the Garrison Hall space will relocate to Owings Mills North with the opening of the new Philip A. Zaffere Library in Fall 2023.
A soft opening of the Center for student groups and leaders as well as for touring students and families is planned for the Spring 2023 semester. The full opening and dedication of the Center is planned for the Fall 2023 semester.
Stevenson hopes the Center will inspire the ongoing spirit of creativity, innovation, and collaboration among our students clubs and organizations, whose activities and initiatives make Mustang life at SU a richer experience for all.
