Congratulations to Our 2024 Commencement Award Winners
The following received awards during Stevenson’s 2024 Commencement Ceremonies. These awards honored outstanding academic, leadership, creative, and service achievements.
Rosemary Elliott Harder ’69 Award for Creative Leadership
Kylah Hardy (Elementary Education) received the Rosemary Elliott Harder ’69 Award for Creative Leadership. The award may be conferred on a graduating woman who exhibited creative leadership and aptitude in her time at ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ. The successful recipient will have encouraged, cultivated, and implemented imaginative solutions and strategies. The student must be a graduating senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the time of her selection. 
Marion and Henry J. Knott Achievement Award 
Valeria Carranza (Elementary Education) received the Marion and Henry J. Knott Achievement Award. The award may be conferred on one graduating student who demonstrated the ability to achieve academically, to reach out to the needs of others at the University, and to persevere toward a goal while also managing major primary responsibilities outside ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ life.
Elizabeth McWethy Award
Zhanna Snyder (Film and Moving Image) received the Elizabeth McWethy Award. The award may be conferred to one graduating student who demonstrated exceptional creativity, manifested genuine concern for society, and has actively influenced the lives of others. 
John Mitchell Award
Zachary Rutsch (Business Administration) received the John Mitchell Award. The award may be conferred on one graduating student who demonstrated outstanding service to their community in a way that exemplifies the values of ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ’s mission.
Orsia F. Young Leadership Award
The Orsia F. Young Leadership Award may be conferred on one graduating student from each academic school of the University who performed in an outstanding manner as a leader in the University community, initiated action, motivated others to do so, and been an agent for positive change in the University. The following students received the award:
- Jessica Reinartz, Elementary Education (School of Education)
- Kevin Franiak, Nursing (Berman School of Nursing and Health Professions)
- Nichlas Kobrick, Business Administration (Brown School of Business and Leadership)
- George Campbell, Film and Moving Image (School of Design, Arts, and Communication)
- Savannah Miller, Psychology (School of Humanities and Social Sciences)
- Ian Sachs, Environmental Science and Biology (Fine School of the Sciences)
The Oak Award
Stephen Dombroskie (Master of Arts in Teaching) received the Oak Award. The award may be conferred on one graduating part-time student who has demonstrated commitment to higher education, the determination to succeed, a high standard of academic achievement, and who has contributed in a tangible manner to the University while balancing many other personal and professional obligations.
Provost’s Award for Exceptional Scholarship
Marissa Chappell (Legal Studies) received the Provost’s Award for Exceptional Scholarship. The award is conferred on one graduating student who performed academically in a particularly exceptional way, has demonstrated unique intellectual ability and initiative, and has contributed to the academic pursuits of their peers.
President’s Award for Scholarly and Creative Achievement
Elias Landeros (Graphic Design) received the President’s Award for Scholarly and Creative Achievement. The award is conferred on a graduating student whose total performance has been marked in a striking fashion by singular creativity and by the depth of their intellectual interest and performance in all subject areas. 
¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ Pin
Jaylen “JT” Tyson (Biology) received the SU Pin Award. This award is the most comprehensive honor the University may confer on one graduating student whose total personal performance is meritorious, including academic achievement, independence and integrity of thought and action, reliability, respect for others, and involvement in University or community affairs.
In addition to the student awards, two other awards were conferred. Board of Trustees member Samuel M. Dell III received the President’s Medal in recognition of his long service to ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ. And, Sharon Buchbinder RN, Ph.D., Dean of the Brown School of Business and Leadership, was conferred Professor Emeritus.
